It is sad that the minority of people who feel the need to start these ridiculous falsehoods, just to try and stir up hatred are even taken seriously by anyone. Social media is so often abused by the nasty people for their own ends, unfortunately a large percentage of mainstream media just regurgitate the miss information, with lazy poor quality writing. It is thanks to good quality journalism from writers like Emma that the facts are given in a constructive and effective way.
That's what I find so disturbing. The people who put out these posts know what they're doing. They don't actually believe it - but it drives clicks and monetisation for some, and for others, it is all about stoking division and discontent.
Indeed! The idea that mega US corporations are going to "remove the word Easter" on UK Easter eggs to "pander" to the 6% Muslim population is utterly ludicrous!
If only Britain actually did have a religious holiday at Easter. Rather than a couple of days off. I wonder how many of the moaners will be at church services over Easter - Catholics have up to 5 of you are a glutton (see what I did there 😁) - Palm Sunday starts Holy Week followed by Holy Thursday (Maunday Thursday in CoE), Good Friday, Easter Vigil on Saturday evening and Easter Mass if you are really packing it in. And Friday is a day of fasting and abstinence. I would complain about the eggs but I’m off chocolate for Lent.
Like pulling the wings off a butterfly (for the avoidance of doubt I love butterflies and would never harm them) your forensic examination of this ridiculous stuff takes apart the dangerous and divisive people that generate it. Bravo.
It really does annoy me how gullible people are and how easy they are to manipulate when the outcome supports their biases. I'd like to think people's ability to think critically is better than this. But on the many occasions when it isn't, I am very grateful for your fact-checking and debunking articles. They prove useful far too often then I would like.
Thank you. It's a sad state of affairs that people often don't stop to question if something sounds plausible. But if it feeds their own biases it's easier to believe than to question.
I’m looking forward to seeing a church notice board advertising its Easter services ‘based on an original pagan celebration’.

Cadbury has successfully removed any taste from their chocolate eggs.
Another great debunk Emma. Thank you 😊
Thanks Chris!
Big Food "fails to respect" Big Religion, brought to you by the same people who rant about Big Agro and Big Pharma (on Big Tech)

Thanks again, Emma, and may I wish you an early Happy Easter!
And Happy Easter to you too!

Thank you! Although not for the butterfly analogy!
Keep up the good work, although this one must be like shooting fish in a barrel!
Thanks. Yeah, this one wasn't hard. But it was quite fun!
